Have you seen anywhere a transaction which would allow that?
If you think about a hard table update, are you aware about data dependencies, how much tables a material master object alone already has? Not even to talk about a case where other master data or transactional data is already created?
It is not possible without hard table update, and this is not even a choice that you should consider, from no stand point.
